Project Description
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project involves the construction, on behalf of the Castello di Volpaia farm, of a new hilly lake in the wooded area of the Borro delle Coste in order to meet the water requirements for irrigation and fire-fighting. The project involves the design of a homogeneous earth barricade 14 metres high, made of clayey material with suitable permeability and located at an altitude of between 660 and 670 m a.s.l., to build a tank with an invaded volume of about 10,000 m3. The embankment will have a width of 3 metres, a total length of about 67 metres and a slope of the faces of 1 out of 2.5 upstream and 2 out of 3 downstream. The pond will be equipped with a free threshold concrete spillway to ensure the disposal of the maximum flood of the project and a bottom and branch drain consisting of a steel pipe made in the foundation soil below the embankment, to allow the discharge of the maximum evacuable flow. The connection with the existing plants will be made with an aqueduct that will introduce the water of the lake in the farm network in Volpaia.
